The National is looking for a Deputy Creative Director. Candidates should have at least five years’ design experience, preferably in a newspaper environment, and ideally knowledge of digital design, as well as managing a department. The job would suit someone already in a similar position or a senior designer looking to expand their role and responsibilities.
The successful applicant should have expertise in the Adobe Creative Suite and be an expert in InDesign, with a good working knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop. Some experience of animation programmes would also be an advantage but not essential.
A keen eye for detail, the ability to stick to tight deadlines and a friendly personality are all needed as well as a creative approach to editorial design. The deputy will be expected to cover for the Creative Director in his absence and help manage a department of designers, graphic artists and animators.
