The team at American City Business Journals will discuss how an organization with no visual identity a decade ago transformed its 40 weekly publications into a place where each designer’s voice can be unique and heard, while still coloring inside the lines of a design framework.

American City Business Journals
Wile directs the content and editorial operations for 43 business journals across the country at ACBJ. Previously, he served as the company’s first national Creative Director and redesigned the papers in tandem with Mario Garcia. He also oversaw UX and Product design, as well as the company’s editorial research operations.Before joining ACBJ in 2012, Wile worked in a variety of design and leadership roles at The Washington Post for seven years. He’s also worked at The Plain Dealer and Detroit Free Press. He’s a graduate of Kent State University, with a degree in newspaper journalism.Wile has served the Society in numerous roles, including multiple positions on the SND board, host of the 2017 annual workshop in Charlotte and SND40 competition coordinator. He’s been a judge four times at the annual creative competition, as well as a facilitator and team captain.
About This Series:
The concept: A moderated 60-90 minute conversation with various guests on specific design and industry topics. We will explore interesting projects from around the world, talk with makers and visual leaders, and allow time for questions and less formal networking among registrants.
When: The third Wednesday of every month at 12pm ET starting May 19.
The Creative Conference Calls series is free to all current SND members, as well as students and educators. Not an SND member but want to attend? Don’t worry, each session will be available to attend for a small registration fee of $10.
