Get involved with SND by volunteering for a committee

This is a regularly updating post of ongoing volunteer opportunities


To put on regular events and keep our organization running, we rely on the volunteer efforts of busy people. If you’re interested in any of these roles, email [email protected] or [email protected] You don’t have to be an SND member to volunteer.


Events Committee

Work with Communications Committee to create communication plan for all events (virtual series, quarterly business meetings, etc). Continue to develop final strategy and concept for virtual series model (pricing, sponsorship opportunities, etc) Help to gather additional volunteers to help with series and develop topics and programming ideas. Note: The first few topics have been determined already to get things started.

  • Time commitment: 10-15 hours a month at the beginning, less as we flush things out.

Virtual Creative Conference Calls Series

Note: The following can be for one session in the virtual series or multiple. Estimates based on one (1) session

Virtual Series Moderators: Moderate virtual session. Welcome attendees, moderate speaking sessions, discussing talking points with speakers prior to session.

  • Time commitment: less than 10 hours

Virtual Series Chat facilitators: Moderate discussions with attendees between sessions.

  • Time commitment: 1-2 hours

Session Monitor: Ensure all attendees are registered. Ensure attendee comments and behavior is inline with SND’s Code of Conduct. Manage entrance into Zoom or Crowdcast Link. Assist Chat facilitators.

  • Time commitment: 1-2 hours 

Communications Committee

Twitter editor: Create regular content to post on Twitter by developing hashtags to highlight great work, and staying on top of current events for roundups. Brainstorm and pitch new initiatives related to the platform. Work with events promoter to ensure even distribution of promotions. 

  • Time commitment: 1-2 hours per week

Slack moderator: Provide prompts and guidance to encourage members to post in different slack channels, with a focus on sharing work people are proud of and recommend reading and articles. Brainstorm and pitch new initiatives related to the platform.

  • Time commitment: 1-2 hours per week

Events promoter: Work with the events committee to come up with communication plans and promotion around different events. Work with Twitter, Instagram and newsletter editors to get all content on the different platforms. Brainstorm and pitch new initiatives related to upcoming events.

  • Time commitment: 1-2 hours per week
