New York Times Wins Gold Medal In Use of Multimedia Category

Judges award the New York Times a gold medal in the Use of Multimedia category for its piece “My Travels With the Curse of Maracanã.”

Judges remarks:

  • “This was the best thing I’ve looked at the whole weekend, the most fun. It was so clever of traveling with the curse. The mobile experience is just as good as the desktop experience…. I can’t think of anything when I went through it that you could change or improve.”
  • “Its really great that they kind of made this feeling into a character. He really pulled you into the first person perspective. I think this is state of the art. I’m struggling to find fault with it. He’s just such a great thinker.”
  • “I thought the execution was amazing. It’s kind of seamless. It’s full of really smart ideas…. It’s not afraid to let the visuals tell the story.”
