Los Angeles Times Wins Silver Medal in Features, Single Subject

The Los Angeles Times has been awarded a silver medal in the Features Single Subject category for its piece “Jonathan Gold’s 101 Best Restaurants.”

Judges remarks:

  • “The thing we didn’t see enough of that this thing did successfully is create a community around the project… not only did they create community around it, but they tapped into that thing that makes you want to share.”
  • “They got reader response, and it’s beautiful. It’s a great reader service.”
  • “The year-end list is one of the oldest journalism delivery methods ever, and I enjoy those lists. But what they’ve done is they’ve made it into a tool that their audience can use.”
  • “They understand how to make something useful by making it data.”
