Danny DeBelius of NPR wins Gold in Individual Portfolio

Judges have awarded a gold medal to Danny DeBelius of NPR in the Individual Portfolio category. See his work here:

Judges remarks:

  • “I love the technical experimentation here. The visual design of it is really solid…. The thing for me that made this transcendent was the totally different way of thinking and not just being the iterations on stuff we’ve seen. I’m going to use multiple examples out of this portfolio as creative examples of what 20-year-old journalism students should be thinking about to change what we do.”
  • “For me, the design and the execution just kind of went above and beyond other entries…. The idea of actually using a TV screen to present news from the web was very interesting. You never hear a conversation about web taking over TV.”
