Best of News Design 36: Updates to the Call for Entries

The deadline for entering the 36th annual Best of News Design Creative Competition is just under a month away (Feb. 18 for international entries) and the Call for Entries has been updated to clarify one of the photography categories.

Two category names in Category 15: Photography/Multiple Photos have been updated:

Category 15A: Single-Day Photo Series

This category is intended for a photo series, project or story that ran on a single day in 2014. Single or multiple pages can be submitted.

Category 15B: Multi-Day Photo Series

This category is intended for a photo series, project or story that ran over multiple days in 2014. Multiple pages from no more than seven (7) editions may be entered.

All current forms, including translated Calls for Entries, may be found here. Those wishing to pay for their entries online may also do so at this link.

As a reminder, SND36 is unique:

• Category 4, Breaking News Topics, and Category 5, Special News Topics, include subcategories for Ukraine Unrest, the Sochi Olympics and the World Cup.

• For the first time, Category 9, Special Coverage, has a subcategory devoted exclusively to the World Cup.

• Category 20, Combined Print and Digital Presentation, which debuted a year ago and produced the Best in Show winner at SND35, has also been expanded to include a separate category for coverage of the World Cup.

As the deadline nears, we will roll out a series of features right here devoted to the competition’s place in the industry. If you are considering entering, or would like to help spread the word, the competition has never been more expansive or presented more opportunities to showcase your best work to the world, than this year.
