Behind the Boston Globe’s postseason Red Sox coverage

Before lead sports designer Luke Knox heads to the Boston Globe graphics department as a full-time graphic artist, we asked him to share some of their pages from the Red Sox’ World Series run. They are currently tied 1-1 with the Detroit Tigers in the ALCS, with game 3 today in Detroit.

“We were running our Sox live game stories on the regular sports front for the first round, and now we have started running separate Red Sox sections for each ALCS game,” Knox explained. “Nearly had a no-hitter to contend with in Game 1 of the Tigers series, and then in Game 2, we got a comeback win after trailing 5-0 in the eighth. So, needless to say, the sports desk folks are still waiting for their heart rates to go back down. Stan Grossfeld’s photo of Torii Hunter filpping over the wall while the cop celebrates is probably one of the best images I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Can’t say enough about what a great photographer he is.”
