Student SND contest coming up

The Student Society for News Design contest, hosted by the University of Missouri chapter, is approaching.

The deadline is April 9, with judging on April 16.

Entries need to have been published between March 16, 2011, and March 15, 2012.

We’ve added a couple of categories this year:

  • Infographics portfolio of the year
  • Multimedia/digital designer of the year.

Winners of the print designer of the year and multimedia/digital designer of the year receive $750 to use for attending SND Cleveland in October.

I noticed that this was last updated in March of last year. Will there be a competition this year? If so, what are the entry dates, when will the award winners be known, and between what dates should the entries have been published? Also, do you judge schools separately based on how big they are? For instance, ours is a private school of 1,100. We publish only 13 issues a school year per our budget and staff restrictions. Our articles, therefore, are likely different than what you’d find in a paper published daily or even weekly. Thank you!
