Steve Dorsey, SND 2011 President and vice president for R&D at the Detroit Media Partnership  will moderate a don’t-miss panel of three accomplished experts who are journalists, technologists and strategists on the cutting edge of tablets and mobile news.

He will be joined by: Steve Yelvington:  Founding editor of Star Tribune Online (later rebranded startribune.com) in Minneapolis in 1994 and built it into one of the topranked newspaper sites in the world. As executive editor and network content director for Cox Interactive Media, he supervised a nationwide network of city sites. At Morris Communications, he led site design and development operations that yielded more Digital Edge and EPpy awards than those of any other newspaper company. He now concentrates on long-term vision, strategy, and innovation for Morris Digital Works.

Ray Marcano: Sr. Manager, Strategic Initiatives, for Cox Media Group’s Digital and Strategy Team. He began his career as a journalist in his native New York, and also held reporting and editing jobs in Oklahoma before moving to the Dayton (OH) Daily News. He’s now heavily involved in the tablet application development program for Cox Media Group. He is the former national president of the Society of Professional Journalists and is a two-time Pulitzer Prize juror.

He’s been responsible for the creation of more than 30 mobile applications since leaving behind his print roots in 2008, including award-winning Los Angeles Times news app and the Walk of Fame augmented reality app. Chris was co-creator of the Chicago Tribune’s RedEye tabloid—which is now the largest newspaper in Chicago.
