7 reasons or more to register for SND STL now

Register now for SND STL and you’ll be entered into a drawing to win an iPad! Then come to St. Louis and learn all about Mobile Design in a day-long series of sessions held in partnership with the Digital Publishing Alliance.

That’s just one reason to register today. Want more? Here’s 7:

SND is not just for designers. The workshop offers practical and inspiring information from more than 70 speakers in almost 40 sessions for all types of digital and print journalists. We’ve especially injected the schedule with emerging digital topics including data visualization, mapping, social media and web development.

St. Louis is a very inexpensive city; for instance, the workshop hotel rate is half of what some other journalism conferences are charging. Two full meals are included in the workshop registration and we’re also negotiating food and drink specials at local restaurants and bars. Plus, there’s TONS to see and do here.

All our sessions will offer takeaways for attendees. This is especially helpful for teachers and students looking to learn more or add new information to their curriculum. We’re specifically asking speakers to prepare a handout or other resources that conference attendees can use after they leave to extend and enrich their experience.

St. Louis is centrally located — fights are especially economical and convenient with a Southwest Airlines’ regional hub based at Lambert Airport. We’ve outlined ways to get to SND STL via plane, train, car and bus from as low as $1 (on the Megabus). Once you get to the hotel everything is in walking distance so you won’t even need a rental car (and a 20 minute ride on the light rail for less than a coffee takes you from the airport to within two blocks of the hotel).

We’re offering a free workshop for students on Thursday, Sept. 29, before the main workshop to help hone skills, get career advice and critique portfolios. There are also other hands-on workshops in web design and development and data visualizations available too.

I guess we did. But you should know we’re offering more mobile and tablet focused training than any journalism conference in the country (more than a full day of it from touch interaction design to development to strategy from innovative organizations including Zite, ESPN, The Daily, The Onion, as well as many newspapers and chains such as the NY Times, Tribune, Morris, Cox, Freedom, etc.), so if you are interested in being on the cutting edge of digital, you better ‘meet us in St. Louis.

For our closing keynote, we have a very special and exclusive presentation from Twitter’s Robin Sloan and NPR’s Matt Thompson — the innovative duo that created the futuristic EPIC 2014 project. It’s going to be… well, EPIC.
