MSNBC: "The designs we left behind"

Editors at MSNBC.com have done a superb job of explaining the decisions and process behind their recent redesign. Today, creative director Ashley Wells who lead the project, blogs on the two-year evolution and process behind the new look. It's one of many good posts on their Alpha Channel blog. A few days back, they discussed how the site bridges the philosophies of print design with Web technology.

I actually like the first prototype the best, if for no other reason than the tagline under the logo: "NOW WITH MORE COW BELL!"
