TED Talks, and we should listen

The TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) conference recently began streaming lectures and presentations from its annual gathering. All are fascinating and some are particularly relevant, the Blog thinks, to the wide world of news design:

• James Nachtwey (embedded above, but much better in HD) talks about being on the front lines of nearly every major war and conflict of the past 25 years.
• Malcom Gladwell explains what we can learn from extra chunky spaghetti sauce, that mustard doesn't exist on a hierarchy and why Platonic universals loose out to variability.
• Charles Leadbeater on the rise of the amateur professional.
• Slam-poet Rives: "If I controlled the Internet."
• Barry Schwartz on the paradox of choice.
• Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales explains wiki culture.
