Meet the four panelists who selected the best-designed newspapers of 2006
 
Paal Berg

Paal A. Berg is editor
for development and digital media at Haugesunds Avis, in Norway. Prior to that, 
he worked eight years with design and news graphics at Verdens Gang, Oslo. Berg was president of SND/Scandinavia from 1999 to 2003. He was a 2000 - 2002 judge of the Scandinavian Best of Newspapers competition jury and a 2005 - 2007 judge for the Norwegian competition jury.
Nuri Ducassi

Nuri J. Ducassi is design director at The Gazette, the only English-language daily in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where she led a redesign. The Gazette received several SND awards in the last competition. She began her career at El Nuevo Herald, in Miami, Fla. Ducassi has worked as design director at the Hartford Courant (Conn.) before moving to the San Jose Mercury News (Calif.) as features design director. She also spent seven years as design director at The Miami Herald (Fla.) where she lead a redesign that won a SND award.

	
Bonnie Jo Mount

Bonnie Jo Mount teaches visual journalism at Hampton University (Va.). Previously she was deputy managing editor for visuals and interactive media at The News & Observer, Raleigh, N.C. Mount has worked as a director of photography and photojournalist in newsrooms across the country. She has judged a variety of photography contests and taught at several national workshops. In 2002 she spent an academic year at Stanford University as a John S. Knight Fellow.
Ally Palmer

Ally Palmer is founding director of UK-based Palmer Watson Ltd., Edinburgh, Scotland. Palmer has been a consultant since 1998 and has a record of creating internationally acclaimed designs for newspapers across the world. Before becoming a consultant, he was group art director for Scotsman Publications, whose titles included The Scotsman and The European.
