THE INTERN: Five fewer after tonight

It has been a great few days with the 10 candidates for The Intern, the competition where the top three students will get their choices next summer of internships at the Arizona Republic, the Orlando Sentinel and the San Jose Mercury News. (The photo shows the students at the 4 a.m. challenge on Monday!) I'm here as the Merc's representative, watching the challengers in action designing, collaborating and generally showing us their stuff. Now I am headed for a meeting where we will narrow the group down to the five finalists, and I am absolutely sweating trying to see how we will do that. I could honestly hire any one of these folks and I'm not looking forward to this boardroom discussion. Stay tuned for the word on how we will continue to do our best at replicating reality TV!
