The Chautauquan Daily welcomes applications for summer 2017 news design internships, June 13 to Aug. 25. The Daily is the official daily newspaper of Chautauqua Institution, a summertime cultural and educational center in southwestern New York state. Successful candidates will work as part of a staff of remarkably talented students from some of the best journalism, photojournalism and visual communications programs in the United States.
The Daily design internship is immersive, collaborative, challenging and rewarding, and offers the opportunity to add a large number of quality print clips — including front pages and section fronts — to a designer’s portfolio. Recent Daily design alums have gone on to full-time work at The Washington Post, Chicago's RedEye, the Charlotte Observer, Harrisburg’s Patriot News and the Gannett Design Studio in Louisville, and to internships at The Virginian-Pilot, the Los Angeles Times and the Orange County Register, among many others.
Daily interns receive a full-season Chautauqua Institution gate pass, provided housing on or near the Institution grounds, and a stipend to help cover living expenses. Interested students should visit chqdaily.com/internships for more information and application instructions. Applications are considered on a rolling basis until remaining positions are filled.
