Digital First Media's design hub in Boulder, Colorado, is expanding. We're looking for an experienced News or Sports Designer. We've recently brought on board the St. Paul Pioneer Press and the Denver Post will be onboard soon. We've filled most of our design positions at this point, however the hub is still looking for a strong designer in news, features or sports with a great portfolio that really shows off your skills. As a designer you would be able to confidently design 1As or more complex features pages for our major metros, and your portfolio is deep enough that we would be confident putting you in that role.
This is a fantastic time to join our team as we continue to expand. The Denver area is booming and you'll be at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, steps from world-class outdoor recreation, an easy drive from some of the world's best skiiing and near a metro area with anything you could want (music, arts, pro sports, college sports and the list goes on).
We're a match if you have daily newspaper experience and a strong portfolio. You have a deep understanding of page design, layout and typography, a creative flair for headlines and a good knowledge of grammar, punctuation and AP style. You enjoy working as part of a collaborative, creative team and have great people and customer-service skills, even under deadline pressure. A Bachelor's in journalism is a huge plus and you'll need at least a few years of daily newspaper experience.
Only applications with a page design portfolio will be considered.
Successful candidates thrive in a creative, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Work schedule is mostly evenings with some weekend hours and some holidays.
Please send your resume and a link to your portfolio (PDFs are also fine) to Design Director Rob Quan at firstname.lastname@example.org
