The Washington Post has an immediate opening on the news design team.
This team is entrusted with the presentation of The Post’s smartest and most ambitious stories across digital, social and print platforms. Our job is to creatively package, enhance and shape a wide range of stories for our readers. We seek designers who embrace a fast-paced news environment that offers lots of opportunities to push the boundaries of visual storytelling.
We place a premium on collaboration. We are looking for journalists who can work well with reporters, editors, photographers, graphics editors and video journalists. Our designers regularly see a project through from inception to completion. The ideal candidate is able to create well-designed and engaging packages in digital, social and print.
We are looking for designers who have digital experience. Experience in HTML/CSS/JS or Eidos Methode a plus. Proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator is expected. Proven skills with photojournalism, graphics and typography are essential. This job requires night and weekend work.
