The Globe and Mail is looking for someone to join its award-winning Presentation team. We are looking for a smart, versatile designer to help craft our storytelling on all platforms, from the phone to the printed page. This is a full-time, contract position for 12 months.

Our highly collaborative team includes interactive editors, art directors, data journalists, and graphics editors – we work together to produce everything from interactive data visualizations to dynamic multi-page print designs. The successful candidate will be a journalist, first and foremost – passionate about the news, with strong editorial judgment. You will have a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work on tight deadlines.

You should be driven and excited about the new possibilities provided by mobile design – and passionate about the power of the printed page. You should be collaborative and willing to learn new things on a daily basis.

The Globe And Mail is Canada's National Newspaper, with a full suite of specialty magazines, SIPs, digital products, and an editorial visuals team of nearly 50 staff across Canada (HQ in Toronto).  We have won Emmys, ONAs, SNDs, Editor&Publisher, NNAs, NMAs, NPPAs, and POYi awards.  We recently moved into a our new HQ in downtown Toronto, a purpose-built 17 storey tower, with a dedicated events space and 360 degree views on every floor. Our newsroom is an audience and data focused news operation, staffed 24/7 with bureaus on 5 continents.
