Ugly designs you have to love. Saving print with type. Following eyeballs, literally. Design through obstruction. The 2014 SND Frankfurt workshop is all about ideas and insights. Here are some more topics our speakers will bring.
Veronika Illmer, who has been in charge of art direction at Bild and Bild am Sonntag since 2001, is among the amazing speakers at the 2014 SND Frankfurt workshop. She talked to workshop organizer Stefan Knapp about the German newspaper’s striking design.
Add Javier Errea’s name to the impressive roster of speakers at SND Frankfurt. Errea is principal of Errea Comunicación, a news design studio based in Pamplona, Spain, and before that has been a reporter, editor and art director at several newspapers throughout the country.
Ole Munk, who speaks at SND Frankfurt workshop next month, will emphasize the role of the designer in a world where audiences crave reliability and familiarity.
Gabi Schmidt, the Creative Director at Schmidt Media Group — and speaker at the upcoming SND Frankfurt workshop — enjoys new projects, and different countries and cultures. One of her greatest concerns as visual journalist is how to engage both the leadership teams and the staff so that they create a more balanced and diverse coverage of news. [...]
It’s time to plan your trip to Frankfurt, Germany, for the 36th SND Workshop & Exhibition, Sept. 25-27. It’s a perfect combination of learning and tourism. Ten good reasons to join us: 1) Germany is home to some of the World’s Best Designed Newspapers. Die Zeit, Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, Welt am Sonntag and Der Freitag [...]
Three more designers have been added to the roster of speakers at the 2014 SND Frankfurt workshop, joining an already impressive lineup.
WAN-IFRA and SND are happy to announce the 2nd biennial News Design Conference in South Asia. Good things are often worth repeating. Such is the case for the South Asia News Design Conference, co-presented by SND and WAN-IFRA. The 2012 conference in New Delhi was such a hit that we’re bringing it back, this time [...]
The Center for Digital Ethics and Policy at Loyola University Chicago will host a Digital Ethics Symposium Friday, October 4, with eight featured speakers, including Douglas Rushkoff, technology journalist, theorist and author of “Present Shock.”
SND is a global phenomenon and October promises to be a month in which its international character is celebrated in style. SND20, representing the Middle East and Africa, is planning to bring together leading media creative minds in Dubai (just over the Arc Bridge, pictured above) for a daylong Creative Design Conference, Oct. 7.
We’re ending our pre-4th of July week with some fireworks of our own. We’ve decided to announce two new speakers today instead of one: Michael Renaud, Creative Director of Pitchfork, and Trei Brundrett, VP of Product and Technology for Vox Media. If you haven’t been following the announcements this week, then you’ve hurt our feelings. Luckily, we don’t hold grudges in Louisville, so we’ll give you a quick recap of the five announcements for the week.
We’re ready to start unveiling workshop information for SND Louisville, and the countdown is now underway. We’re pretty far along curating a great lineup of speakers. We’re excited, and not very good at keeping secrets; so, we’re not going to wait for one big reveal a couple months before the conference when the schedule is set. We’re announcing five speakers this week, and every week after we’ll unveil at least two names.
The Cleveland workshop is upon us! The lineup is outstanding! Friday’s schedule is here, including Mario Garcia, Karl Gude and Bottle Rocket Apps and way more. Saturday’s lineup is here, including Jim Brady, Zach Wise and the Heads of State.
This workshop is different. We’ve got an awesome opening reception at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Most folks are staying downtown, and the conference is a few steps away at Sammy’s in One Cleveland Center.
