Andrea Zagata, lead sports designer of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, has been named as competition coordinator for the 37th annual Best of News Design Print Creative Competition, to be held in February 2016 on the campus of Syracuse University in Upstate New York.
Zagata has attended the competition as a facilitator six times since 2009, has been a team caption previously, and was a judge in the 36th edition of the competition.
A 2010 graduate of Michigan State University, she first worked as an intern at the Los Angeles Times, followed by sports design positions at the Detroit News, The Buffalo News and Cleveland Plain Dealer. She has twice been honored with awards of excellence for her sports design portfolio, and has been a part of multiple medal-winning entries at SND competitions.
She will be responsible for selecting judges for the 37th edition, selecting team captains for judging, and coordinating the three-day competition next spring.
