SND appoints new training director: Lee Steele

At the core of SND’s mission is to provide education and networking opportunities for members. The Society hosts events and meetups all around the world.

We are also constantly searching for ways to make events more useful and accessible for members and the wider visual journalism community.

To meet this opportunity and challenge, SND is appointing one of our best to the post of Training Director, Lee Steele.

Lee is currently the director for SND Region 1, covering East Coast states from Maine to Virginia. He’s done a great job creating events and a network for our East Coast members, one of SND’s largest regions. Lee was appointed Region 1 director in 2009.

“Lee has brought so much to the Society and we can’t wait to see what he can do in helping reinvent the way we bring training events to members,” said President Jonathon Berlin.

Lee is the Design Editor at Hearst Connecticut and teaches at Southern Connecticut State University. He also volunteers and covers local art galleries around Bridgeport.

SND’s training director helps set up the events throughout the year, working with directors from around the world.

“Lee’s ability to organize events and people will help him do a great job in his new appointment,” Berlin said.

Plans for the next Region 1 director will be announced here soon.
